區史展示中心於95年6月11日正式揭幕運作，自95年至97年已完成6期文物採購及教育推廣執行案，有鑑於萬華區是臺北最早發展的地方，區內仍有相當豐富的歷史文物及史料值得珍藏保存，惟展示空間有限，故重新規劃空間配置，分為接待區、常設區、特展區、圖書與影音區。藉由空間重新配置，突顯區史展示中心之特色及歷史傳承意義，並藉由推廣活動，讓民眾能熟悉區史，以利後人考證與參考。

The Wanhua District History Exhibition Center was officially opened on June 11th 2006. Since 2006 to 2008, the center's administration has completed six stages of relic procurement and education/promotion projects. Wanhua was the earliest development of the Taipei area. Substantial historic materials and resources are worth preserving, however, space is limited. Through re-planning, the characteristics and historic meaning of Wanhua District are brought to life in five well laid out zones, including the reception, permanent exhibition, special exhibition, books, and archive zones. Through regular activities, people are brought closer to the history of Wanhua; and, vice versa, the historic resources serve as good references for academic study.

文化的保存與城鄉發展是相輔相成而並行不悖的，而文物及史料正是文化的結晶與象徵。從這些珍貴的文物史料中，可以看出先人的努力與智慧、歷史演進的軌跡、城鎮發展的興衰起伏……等。而今叉適逢臺北市政府推動西區「軸線翻轉」計畫，區史展示中心擁有豐富的文史資料，正好可以讓我們從中發現思考萬華未來在大時代變遷中的走向。
